Graduate visa job hunting: how to use your two years well

A month-by-month plan for finding sponsored work before your Graduate visa runs out.

The Graduate visa gives you two years of unsponsored work rights. The mistake most students make is treating month one like a holiday and month twenty like an emergency.

Work backwards. A Skilled Worker switch takes time, and employers need to hold a sponsor licence. Filter your search by licensed sponsors from day one so you are never surprised at offer stage.

Apply in volume early, then narrow. Track every application, follow up after ten working days, and treat rejections as data — if a stage keeps failing, that is the skill to practise.

Finally, keep evidence tidy: payslips, contracts and right-to-work documents make the switch application far less stressful.
